Three Questions Before You Shortlist a Chinese Mining Wear-Parts Supplier
July 12, 2026 · 2 min read
Walk the floor of any large mining exhibition in China and you will pass hundreds of booths selling similar SAG mill liners, hydrocyclone parts, wear plates, conveyor systems and crusher wear components. Certificates are on the wall, brochures are on the table, and every stand promises ISO 9001 and heat traceability.
The question every mining procurement team asks before taking a meeting is the right one: which of these suppliers should we take seriously?
The floor plan will not tell you. The real filter is what happens after the show.
Three requests we make before recommending a China-based mining supplier
- Send the last three material test certificate packages you shipped internationally, with heat numbers redacted. A supplier that exports regularly can produce these quickly. A slow or evasive response tells you most of what you need to know.
- Show the pouring log from the most recent production shift on the exact part you would supply. If it cannot be produced the same day, the discipline behind the certificates is not there.
- Give a customer reference in a demanding export market, such as Australia, Ghana or Saudi Arabia, not only domestic buyers. An export track record under Western procurement scrutiny is the signal that matters.
None of this happens at the booth. It happens in the follow-up.
Before you go
If you are planning a supplier visit or an exhibition trip, walk the exhibitor list with someone who knows which suppliers survive export procurement scrutiny. Meritus can compare notes on specific suppliers and product lines before you commit travel time.
