Sourcing a Class-Approved Marine Diesel Generator Set From China

For a purchasing manager sourcing marine power equipment from China, the challenge is rarely the price. It is getting the right specification, class approval, documentation and factory testing, managed by someone who understands both the technical requirements and the supply chain.

A recent supply: 60 kWe prime marine generator set

1,000 L base-frame fuel tank with dual-skin high-pressure fuel lines
Full class approval, factory acceptance test reports, and a two-year spare parts package covering 4,000 operating hours

What a reliable marine supply chain includes

Class approval matched to the vessel: DNV, Bureau Veritas, ABS, Lloyd's Register, CCS or another society, aligned to the vessel's flag and class before the order is placed.
Factory acceptance testing with load steps, protection checks and recorded results, not a summary sheet.
Complete documentation: material test reports, performance curves, GA drawings, wiring diagrams and O&M manuals.
Export-standard seaworthy packing and flexible Incoterms such as FOB, CIF or DDP.

The same approach applies beyond gensets: valves to API 600 and ASME B16.34, flanges to ASME B16.5 and EN 1092-1, pumps, pipe to ASTM A106 and API 5L, and electrical equipment, with sourcing, production follow-up, certification and QC inspection handled in one channel.
