1. Inspection without technical data sheet review

The manufacturer sends an API 6D valve that meets the test certificate—but the inspector did not read the data sheet with the attention you would have applied if you had been at the plant. No one detected it until the line was pressurized. The difference is not in the certificate; it is in the technical review that precedes the inspection.

2. Loose interpretation of specifications in English

Technical specifications arrive in English, the supplier interprets them loosely, and the deviation does not appear until final inspection. Renegotiating from Shanghai at a distance of 14,000 kilometers is exactly as slow as you imagine. Technical review before issuing the RFQ prevents most of these deviations.

3. Deadlines met on paper, actual shipment delayed

Manufacturing deadlines are met on paper. Actual dispatch occurs two weeks late because no one performed on-site follow-up at the plant during the manufacturing process. Weekly tracking with photo reports identifies the deviation before it affects the critical date.
